metal cut off wheel dangerous to breathe?
i work in a shop in seattle and there's a guy that runs the driveline shop. and every day he cuts metal tubing for drivelines with his metal cutting saw. all the guys in the othe side of the shop where i work put on their masks and say bad things about the driveline guy, because they want to get rid of the saw because they think it is harmful to breathe. is this true?
Answer:
Yup, the last thing you want are metal shavings imbedded in your lungs. It'll set off inflammation and youll ruin you alveoli(the tiny sacs in your lungs that transports oxygen into bloodstream). Once these sacs are damage and the lungs are compromised, you'll end up with emphysemia or other chronic lung diseases. If you cant get rid of the saw, invest in a good face mask while in the immediate area.

Diamond Cut-Off Wheel Technology Explained
