Should I be worried about Green mould in my new extension?
We've had a new extension built on the side of our bungalow. I finished painting at the weekend but when I got to the end of the skirting board I noticed a little green mould on in the corner of the extended new room. I looked on the opposite side in the other extended room and the same. Also mould has appeared along the skiting and over some new paint I put down 3 days ago.
There was a spill age of water when a rad was taken off in one room and plumbing work has been done in both rooms and new concrete put down over the top. Walls have been rendered in both rooms along with ceilings. Should I be concerned about this or should it just dry out eventually. I've killed the mould off with bleach for now but I want the carpets in soon and am loathe to if the problem could come back. The builder says is likely that it's just in the skirting and it was probably from where the skiting was stored prior to installation... Any thoughts?
Answer:
Is the damp course installed properly under the block work?or did the area get wet during construction it may be that the block work got damp by rain while it was being built and didn't dry out or if it's damp course then that would be a major problem, take off some skirting and see if you can see the damp course under the first course of block work if it's there you're ok also what type of insulation did you use it could be bridging the cavity or there may be some thing in the cavity bringing the moisture across and causing the stains I would check that also, good luck.
